Hilarie Burton plays Peyton Sawyer, a fiercely independent, beautiful high school student, on the hit drama "One Tree Hill."

Audiences are familiar with Burton from her work as one of MTV's hottest VJs. With her presence in network and cable TV, radio and the big screen, she is one of the hottest young stars today.

Burton recently wrapped production on two thrillers: "Solstice" and "The List." She made her feature film debut in "Our Very Own," with an ensemble cast featuring Allison Janney, Jason Ritter and Cheryl Hines.

As a former host of "Total Request Live," MTV's wildly popular request show, and various MTV specials, Burton interviewed the most talked-about people in entertainment, from Angelina Jolie to Britney Spears.

Born and raised in Loudoun County, Virginia, with her three brothers, Burton developed a passion for acting early in life. Shortly after moving to New York to pursue her dream, she landed the coveted job of VJ at MTV.

Burton was seen as a VJ on "Dawson's Creek" and in 2003 hosted "The Real World Las Vegas Reunion." She also hosted "Pepsi Smash."

Burton resides in Wilmington, North Carolina.
